Medusa Reclaimed: A Cry for Protection

Fascinated by the Medusa myth and her portrayal as a monster, I sought to reinterpret her story through a woman's perspective—a survivor who transforms her pain into a shield against harm. For this piece, I used a magazine clipping of a model whose face captured the vulnerability and strength I aimed to convey. I positioned her gaze upward, as though crying out for help, while a hand extends toward her, symbolizing the granting of protection. The serpent, representing her Medusa form, becomes a tool of empowerment—a guardian against those who would harm her, rather than a symbol of fear.
