“Fragments of the Mind: A Tribute to Support”

In honor of my grandfather, who suffers from bipolar disorder and dementia, I created a piece that symbolizes the struggle of living with mental illness and the importance of having someone there to provide comfort and grounding. The painting depicts a man with his face gently resting in the palms of another’s hands, a gesture of support and solace. Surrounding him are fragments of his identity, representing the memories and pieces of himself that slip away with each episode. This work aims to capture both the fragility and the profound connection that can bring someone back to reality, even in their most vulnerable moments.
