Sensory Design Curriculum

Emphasizing the interaction of sight, sound, touch, taste, and scent to create immersive, inclusive, and interesting spaces, this course investigates the dynamic subject of sensory design. It explores sensory sensitivities, covers the historical development and ideas of sensory design, and stresses uses in architecture, urban planning, product, graphic, and computer interface design. Examining future themes including haptic feedback, virtual reality, and sensory data analytics, the program combines practical insights with theoretical foundations with eminent designers including Olafur Eliasson, James Turrell, and Janet Echelman. By means of a multidisciplinary approach, it prepares participants to use sensory design to produce significant and easily available experiences.
